Europe: Volcanic Ash Update – 18th May 2010

May 18, 2010 Edward

Latest information received indicates that the explosive activity from the Icelandic volcano continues with airspace in the south-east of the UK and in the Netherlands affected.

The areas of ash concentration are mainly at low levels and expected to disperse as south-westerly winds become established. There may be some continuing disruption to flights in the greater London area. Flight delays may be experienced as a result of congestion in airspace adjacent to closed areas.

Airport Updates:

UK: Four airports currently closed: Belfast City, Londonderry, Shetland and Orkney.
IE: Dublin, Donegal and Sligo airports have re-open.
BE: Ostend airport will re-open. Brussels and Liège will remain open until further notice with no changes expected at this time.
