International Security

November 16, 2010 Edward

As you may be aware from recent media reports security intervention on international Air Cargo has been significantly enhanced after
the detection of explosives on flights to the United Kingdom and United States.

In response to these threats the Office of Transport Security (in conjunction with the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service)
has directed an immediate implementation of enhanced security screening of air cargo arriving from the Middle East with destination Australia
or in transit. (Refer to the Media Release by The Hon Anthony Albanese MP, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport.) here

The effect of this increased security intervention has resulted in the slowing of Customs and Border Protection release of air cargo
consignments particularly those meeting specific security profiles. This, as you would understand, has an impact on cargo release.
